Theo-Dur is prescribed to treat symptoms of lung diseases such as asthma, bronchitis, and emphysema. It is often used in combination with other medication to relieve symptoms such as coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, and troubled breathing.


How does Theo-Dur work?

Theo-Dur is an oral medication containing an active ingredient called Theophylline. This medication belongs to a group of drugs known as bronchodilators. The Theophylline dosage in the medication works by relaxing the muscles in the bronchial tubes (air passages of the lungs). It also opens breathing passages and decreases the lung’s response to irritants.

Before taking Theo-Dur or the Theophylline generic, read all the instructions and paper work that given to you by your pharmacist. Make sure you take it at the same time each day to create a routine for yourself and to ensure an even spread of the Theophylline dosage in your system. How long does it take for Theophylline to work?

What is the elimination half-life of Theophylline?

The half-life for this medication can vary depending on your age; if you are a non-smoker, it can take 8 hours or if you are a smoker, then the half-life is 5 hours.
