What is Tenoretic prescribed for?

Tenoretic is used to treat high blood pressure, which is also known as hypertension. If someone has high blood pressure, it means that their heart is working harder than it should to pump blood around the body. If this continues for a long time, the heart and arteries may not function properly. This could result in damaged blood vessels of the brain, heart, and kidneys which could result in a stroke, heart failure, or kidney failure.

You can buy Tenoretic (Atenolol/Chlorthalidone) online at My Drug Center. We currently do not have the Tenoretic generic alternative available for purchase.

How does Tenoretic work?

Tenoretic is an oral medication that contains a combination of the active ingredients Atenolol and Chlorthalidone. Atenolol belongs to a class of drugs known as beta blockers, which works by blocking the action of certain natural chemicals in your body, such as epinephrine, on the heart and blood vessels. This effect lowers the heart rate, blood pressure, and strain on the heart. Chlorthalidone is a thiazide diuretic (water pill) that helps prevent your body from absorbing too much salt, which can cause fluid retention.

Before taking Tenoretic, read all the instructions and paper work that given to you by your pharmacist. Take your Tenoretic dosage orally once a day. Make sure you take it at the same time each day to create a routine for yourself and to ensure an even spread of the Atenolol/Chlorthalidone dosage in your system. This medication should be taken on a regular basis to have optimal results. The Tenoretic dosage that you take will depend on your condition and your age. Take this medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not change or increase your dose. You should continue taking this medication even if you feel well.

Tenoretic may contain medical and non medical ingredients that could cause an allergic reaction. Consult with your doctor about any known allergies before taking Tenoretic. Speak with your doctor about any known medical conditions especially those relating to liver disease, kidney disease, heart rhythm problems, gout, lupus, respiratory disorders, blood circulation problems, untreated mineral imbalance, serious allergic reactions including those needing treatment with epinephrine, or muscle/nerve disease (myasthenia gravis).

Some Tenoretic side effects include:

Dizziness, lightheadedness, tiredness, nausea, and diarrhea

Serious Tenoretic side effects include:

Very slow heartbeat, fainting, trouble breathing, signs of kidney problems (such as change in the amount of urine), toe/joint pain, mental/mood changes (such as depression, mood swings), blue fingers/toes, new or worsening symptoms of heart failure (such as shortness of breath, swelling ankles/feet, unusual tiredness, unusual/sudden weight gain).

If any side effects of Atenolol/Chlorthaliadone become unmanageable speak with your doctor or pharmacist for help in managing any side effects. For any serious side effects that occur speak with your doctor right away for further treatment options.
