How does Requip XL work?

Requip XL is an extended-release oral medicine that contains the active ingredient Ropinirole. Ropinirole is a dopaminergic agent and it has some of the same effects as dopamine, a naturally occurring chemical found in your body. Low levels of dopamine in the brain are associated with Parkinson's disease. When taken as directed, Requip XL works by imitating the effects of dopamine, a neurotransmitter that relays signals between nerve cells. On week 3; you may take 0.75mg 3 times per day and week 4; 1mg 3 times per day. The maximum is 24 mg per day (8 mg 3 times daily).
