Omnaris Nasal Spray is a medication containing a man-made nasal corticosteroid called ciclesonide. We carry this medication in both the brand choice and generic alternative in 50mcg. 

Omnaris Nasal Spray is used to relieve symptoms of stuffiness, congestion, runny nose, itching, and sneezing caused by seasonal and year-round nasal allergies. Allergies occur when the immune system reacts poorly to a substance called allergen. Seasonal allergies occur during certain seasons of the year and may also be referred to as “hay fever”. The common cause of seasonal allergies include tree, weed, or grass pollen or “outdoor triggers”. For year-round allergies, the allergens causing you symptoms are likely from “indoor triggers” such as house hold dust, mold spores, dust mites, cat or dog dander, and can also include pollen.

Omnaris Nasal Spray (ciclesonide) is effective at relieving symptoms of allergies due to the active ingredient being a steroid capable of preventing certain substances in your body from being released, which would cause inflammation.

Follow only the directions given to you by your doctor.

The recommended dose of Omnaris Nasal Spray is 2 sprays in each nostril once a day. Shake the bottle well before using. Avoid blowing your nose immediately after using the nasal spray. Do not use more than once within a 24 hour period. Rinse with water if the spray gets into your mouth or eyes.

1.       Blow your nose

2.       Keep head upright and inset the tip of the bottle into one nostril

3.       While pinching the other nostril shut, gently spray the medicine into your nose and breathe in quickly

4.       Repeat steps 2-3 in the second nostril

Do not use Omnaris Nasal Spray (ciclesonide)

You should not use this medication if you are allergic to ciclesonide or any of the inactive ingredients found in Omnaris Nasal Spray.

Dose adjustment or special precautions may be required

Tell your doctor if you have been using any other steroid medications including oral, inhaled, or injected medications. Also tell your doctor if you have asthma, glaucoma, tuberculosis or other infection of the lungs, an open sore inside your nose, or a recent nose injury or surgery.

Risks

If you stopped using another steroid medicine in order to begin treatment with Omnaris, you may find yourself with steroid withdrawals (such as joint or muscle pain, depression, and weakness). Tell your doctor if you are switching from one medication to another.

Avoid people who are sick or have infections while using this medication. If you are exposed to chickenpox or measles, call your doctor right away. These conditions can be serious or even fatal if contracted by a person using Omnaris Nasal Spray, as this medication may weaken the immune system.

It is not known if this medication will harm an unborn baby or a nursing infant; consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breast feeding.

Steroid medicines can affect growth in children. Speak with your doctor if this concerns you.

Common side effects of Omnaris Nasal Spray (ciclesonide) may include:

headache, dizziness; nosebleed, nasal irritation; stuffy nose, sore throat; or ear pain.

The above side effects should not alarm you.

Serious side effects of Omnaris Nasal Spray (ciclesonide) may include:

runny or bloody nose, crusting inside the nose, whistling sound when you breathe; sores or white patches in or around your nostrils; fever, chills, body aches, nausea, vomiting; or blurred vision, tunnel vision, eye pain, seeing halos around lights.

A hormonal disorder: worsening tiredness or weakness, feeling light-headed, vomiting, loss of appetite, diarrhea, and weight loss; or

Ciclesonide absorbed into bloodstream: weight gain (especially in your face or your upper back and torso), slow wound healing, thinning skin, increased body hair, irregular menstrual periods, changes in sexual function, or muscle weakness, tired feeling, depression, anxiety, feeling irritable.

What if I miss a dose?

If you miss a dose, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If you next dose is approaching soon, skip the missed dose and continue your next dose as scheduled. Do not double up on doses to make up for a missed dose.

Is this product safe for children?

Yes. For seasonal allergies, Omnaris Nasal Spray may be used in those who are at least 6 years old and may be used for year-round allergies in those who are at least 12 years of age.

What is the average dose for an adult with allergies?

The recommended dose of Omnaris Nasal Spray is 2 sprays in each nostril once per day. This is for both seasonal and year-round allergies.

How long until my symptoms improve using Omnaris Nasal Spray?

It may take up to 2-5 weeks before your symptoms improve. Contact your doctor if your symptoms have not improved over this time.
