Description

What is NicoDerm Patches (Nicotine) prescribed for?

Nicotine is the primary and very addictive ingredient in any tobacco product.  The NicoDerm Patch is a transdermal patch and releases nicotine into the body through the skin. This in turn, replaces the nicotine you would get from smoking and makes the withdrawal effects you may receive from not smoking less severe. The amount of nicotine you use is decreased over a time frame until you no longer need it. It is used in nicotine replacement therapy, a process for smoking cessation.

The patch comes in 3 doses. If you smoke 11 or more cigarettes a day, start with the 21MG patch. If you smoke 10 or less a day, start with the 14MG patch.

When placing the patch on the arm, place it in a clean and healthy spot.  Such as the chest, back, belly and upper arm.  Make sure to move the site of each patch with each new one, and make sure the area you place the patch is without any hair.

Each patch can stay on for 16 to 24 hours; however do not use the patch for more than 24 hours. And do not use more than one patch at a time.
