Description

What is Hydrodiuril?

Hydrodiuril is an oral tablet containing a thiazide diuretic called hydrochlorothiazide. We carry the generic alternative to this medication in 12.5mg, 25mg, and 50mg!

What is Hydrodiurl used for, and how does it work?

Hydrodiuril is a high blood pressure medication used to lower blood pressure. Uncontrolled hypertension (high blood pressure) can lead to a number of complications, including heart attack or stroke, aneurysm, heart failure, dementia, metabolic syndrome and more. Hydrodiuril not only helps to reduce these risks but also allows the patient to have an increased quality of life. Patients with edema caused by congestive heart failure, cirrhosis of the liver, kidney disorders, or taking steroids or estrogen may also take Hydrodiuril to help treat fluid retention (edema; excess fluid in the body).

Hydrochlorothiazide/Hydrodiuril is effective in treating both high blood pressure and edema because of its power to prevent your body from absorbing too much salt, which can cause fluid retention and increase the frequency of urinating. Your kidneys help control your blood pressure depending on the amount of fluid in your body. The more fluid, the higher the blood pressure, so by reducing the amount of liquid in the body, you are also lowering blood pressure.

Always follow directions given to you by your doctor. Instructions can usually also be found on the prescription or prescription bottle/container.

This medication is most commonly taken once a day, in the morning. You may take this medication with or without food, however directed by your doctor.

You may want to take this medication at least 4 hours before bedtime as you may find yourself waking up throughout the night to urinate.

High blood pressure usually has little to no symptoms; do not stop taking this medication even if you think you are better.

Cautions

If you have difficulties with urinating, you will need to get that condition treated before continuing with Hydrodiuril.

Tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease, glaucoma, asthma or allergies, gout, diabetes, or if you have an allergy to sulfa drugs or penicillin in order to determine if this medication is safe or effective for you.

Avoid becoming overheated or dehydrated while doing physical activities such as sports or exercising. Keep in mind drinking too much can be just as bad as not drinking enough.

The list of drugs that interact with hydrochlorothiazide is very long; with your doctor, go over all the medications you are currently taking and any drug allergies you may have.

This medication is not expected to harm an unborn baby. However, other complications may occur, such as the baby developing jaundice. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan on becoming pregnant.

This drug can pass into breast milk and can harm a nursing infant. Do not breastfeed while using this medication.
