Gravol Syrup is used to treat and prevent symptoms of motion sickness such as nausea, dizziness, and vomiting. Motion sickness occurs when traveling in a car, train, boat, or airplane and is due to the difference in motion sensed by your ears the motion your eyes see. Gravol is most often take as a tablet and can also be administered as an injection for adults who cannot swallow pills (both of these forms are available at MyDrugCenter). The syrup version of Gravol has been designed to be suitable for children as the Gravol Syrup comes in low doses and is alcohol free!

Gravol Syrup/ dimenhydrinate is effective in the treatment and prevention of motion sickness due to its ability to affect the natural histamines in your body that cause you to feel motion sickness.

Always follow the dosing instructions given to you by your doctor.

For best results, take this medication 1 – 2 hours before traveling. Take this medication no later than 30 minutes before traveling.

Children under 2: contact your doctor for dosage.

Children 2 – 6: measure one teaspoon (5ml) every 6 – 8 hours as needed. Max dose of 5 teaspoons (25ml) per day.

Children 6 – 12: measure 2 teaspoons (10ml) every 6 – 8 hours as need. Max dose of 10 teaspoons (50ml) per day.

Do not exceed more than the daily dose recommendation. See Directions.

Do not use this product for a prolonged time unless directed to by a health care professional. Avoid using this product if you have glaucoma, chronic lung disease, difficulties with urination due to a swollen prostate gland.

Do not take this product if you are also taking an antihistamine, a tranquilizer, or any other sedating medication before consulting your doctor.

Avoid doing activities that require your full attention, such as driving, until you understand how this drug affects you.

Do not use this medication if you are pregnant or breast feeding unless directed otherwise by your doctor.

Keep out of reach of children.

Side effects are rare however; taking a recommended dose you may experience drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, a dry mouth, or feelings of nervousness or excitement; in children, they are more likely to become excitable.

Taking too large of a dose may lead to side effects such as sluggishness, paranoia, agitation, memory loss, increased blood pressure and heart rate, or hallucinations.

Long term effects of taking Gravol Syrup may include side effects such as depression, feeling confused, having no energy, vomiting, trouble urinating (passing water), or trouble thinking or socializing.

An overdose on Gravol Syrup may cause one to experience confusion, irrational behavior, loss of muscle coordination, trouble breathing, high fever, convulsions or seizures, or coma.

How should I store this medication?

Store this medication between 15 and 27 degrees Celsius. Store away from children at pets.
