Derma-Smoothe FS is a topical body oil made up of fluocinolone acetonide. This medication can be purchased as its brand name Derma-Smoothe FS (body oil) in 4oz bottles.

Derma-Smoothe FS is a medication used to treat atopic dermatitis, which is a form of eczema, causing red, itchy, irritated skin. This medication is a low/medium strength corticosteroid. This medication works by reducing the actions of the chemicals in the body that cause inflammation.

Do not use this medication on the face, groin, underarms or the diaper area (if applying on a child).

Do not cover or bandage the affected area after applying Derma-Smoothe FS.

Avoid getting this product in your eyes, nose or mouth; rinse very thoroughly if this occurs.

If treatment doesn’t help within 2 weeks; contact your doctor.

1.       Wash your hands; dry completely.

2.       Shake well before each use.

3.       Apply a thin layer to affected area.

4.       Gently rub the medication into the skin until it disappears.

5.       Wash your hands after applying; ignore this step the treatment was done on the hand.

Do not use larger or smaller amounts of this medication than directed to by your doctor.

Peanut oil is contained inside this product; tell your doctor if you have a nut allergy and all other allergies you may have (more so drug allergies).

Children tend to absorb larger amounts of Derma-Smoothe through the skin; this may increase the chance of side effects.

Topical steroid medications absorbed through the skin may increase sugar levels in your body; be aware of this if you are a person with diabetes.

It is not known if this product will harm an unborn child or if it passes into breast milk. Always consult your doctor about pregnancy and how your medications will affect the baby.

Common side effects of Derma-Smoothe FS (Fluocinolone Acetonide) may include:

mild skin itching, burning, dryness, or other irritation; temporary hair loss; swollen hair follicles; blisters, pimples, or crusting of treated skin; changes in color of treated skin; skin rash or irritation around your mouth; fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose; or red spots or the appearance of tiny veins (especially around your nose, cheeks, or chin).

The above side effects should not alarm you.

Serious side effects of Derma-Smoothe FS (Fluocinolone Acetonide) may include:

blurred vision, headache; thinning skin, easy bruising; mood changes; weight gain, puffiness in your face; or muscle weakness, feeling tired.

If you have any of the above side effects, contact your doctor right away.

How long until I start feeling relief?

Yes! It is safe for children 3 months and up for a duration of 4 weeks!

What happens if I miss a dose?

Take the miss dose as soon as you remember or skip it if your next dose is approaching soon. Never double up on dosages to make up for a missed dose.

Store Derma-Smoothe FS at room temperature away from moisture and heat; keep the bottle tightly closed.
