Aclovate Ointment (Alclometasone Dipropionate) is a topical steroid that helps relieve itching and inflammation caused by skin conditions. The most common conditions include allergic reactions, eczema, and psoriasis, however it is not the only conditions this ointment is used for. It works by reducing the activity of the chemicals in your body that cause inflammation when skin conditions occur. Aclovate is available in bottles containing 0.05% Alclometasone Dipropionate and come in 50, 100, and 150 gram bottles. Your local pharmacy should be able to provide you with any extra information you may want to know about Aclovate.

Only a thin layer of Aclovate is needed, and should be massaged into the skin until it is no longer visible. This can be done 2 – 3 times a day. If not results are shown within 2 weeks, or if the condition worsens, speak to your doctor to see what other options are available for you.

Wash your hands before applying this cream to the affected area. Aclovate is not meant for large areas of skin and after applying, should not be covered, unless directed otherwise.

It is not recommended for use in children under the age of 1 year old.

Do not store in overly hot or cold temperatures.

Do not use to treat diaper rash.

Tell your doctor if you have a fungal, bacterial, viral skin infections, large areas of burned/damaged skin, or diabetes before using aclovate.

Less than 2% of users have reported itching, burning, dryness, irritation and papular rashes from using Aclovate.

Is it safe to breastfeed while using Aclovate?

There have not been any cases that show Aclovate travels into breast milk. It is usually safer to avoid breast feeding while on any kind of medication but you can speak to your doctor to find out exactly how safe it is

It is safe for children 12 months and up.

Is Modrasone similar to Aclovate?

Modrasone IS Aclovate. Internationally, it is known as Modrasone, just like generically it is known as Alclometasone Dipropionate. All of these names are correct and reference the same thing.

What is the difference between this and the Aclovate cream?

A cream is water-based where as the ointment is oil based. The cream will have a higher concentration of water while ointment has a higher concentration of oil. The more oil, the greasier and stickier the product will be.
