What is Abilify prescribed for?

Abilify is used predominantly for the treatment of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder but can also be used as an add-on treatment for major depressive disorder, tic disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders (OCD), and irritability associated with autism. How does Abilify work?

Abilify contains the active ingredient Aripiprazole, which belongs to a class of drugs called antipsychotics. It’s not known how Aripiprazole works exactly, but it’s thought that it helps regulate the amount of certain chemicals in your brain such as dopamine and serotonin. Managing the levels of these chemicals may help control certain conditions.

Abilify dosage are in oral tablets in the following strengths: 2mg, 5mg, 10mg, 15mg, 20mg, and 30mg. The Abilify generic is also available and it is called Aripiprazole – the active ingredient in Abilify. The Aripiprazole generic may not available in all Abilify dosage tablets. You can buy Asacol medication to be used alone or in combination with other medications to treat mental conditions.

Before taking your prescribed medication read all the instructions that was provided by your pharmacist. Take Abilify orally once a day with a full glass of water. Swallow the tablets whole; do not break, crush, or chew them. Abilify (Aripiprazole) can be administered with or without a meal. Make sure you take Abilify at the same time each day to create a routine for yourself and to ensure an even spread of medication in your system. For optimal results take this medication on a regular basis. Do not change or increase your dose. You should continue taking this medication even if you feel well.

Abilify (Aripiprazole) oral tablet is used for long-term treatment. The dosage your doctor prescribes you depends on multiple factors such as: the severity of your condition, your age, the form of Abilify you take, your medical history.

You should not suddenly stop taking this drug or change your dosage without consulting your doctor first. Stopping this medication suddenly can cause unwanted side effects such as facial tics, uncontrolled speech, or uncontrolled shaking.

What is Abilify used for?

Abilify is most commonly used for patients with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. However, some doctors may prescribed Abilify as an additional medication to treat disorders like obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), tic disorders (such as Tourette's disorder), and major depressive disorder.

What does Abilify do?

The exact mechanism of action for Abilify (aripiprazole) is unknown; however, doctors do have a good idea as to what it does that makes Abilify therapeutically effective. Unfortunetly, it is difficult to accurately say when it will start working as many factors play into how long it takes to work. What is good about Abilify?

Abilify has been noted to have a lower rate of adverse metabolic effects compared to other antipsychotic medications, as well as a higher remission rate, according to studies of Dr. Young Sup Woo. Additionally, Abilify has a generic alternative available for patients, which allows the same therapeutic effect as Abilify at a reduced cost.
