Description

What is Lexapro used for?

Lexapro is a medication commonly prescribed to treat major depression and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). These disorders are linked to chemical imbalances in the brain. Generalized anxiety disorder is characterized by excessive or exaggerated worry about everyday events. In addition to feelings of anxiety, irritability, and restlessness, anxiety disorders may also cause physical symptoms such as headaches, nausea, muscle tension, and trembling.

You can buy Lexapro online at My Drug Center. We have the generic Lexapro and Escitalopram available on our website as well. Lexapro is known internationally as Cipralex.

How does Lexapro work?

Lexapro is an antidepressant that belongs to a class of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI). It is an oral medication that contains the active ingredient Escitalopram. The Escitalopram dosage in the drug works by boosting levels of serotonin which is a neurotransmitter in the brain that helps maintain mental balance. As a result, it can alleviate symptoms of the generalized disorder, such as restlessness, difficulty concentrating, and irritability. It can also ease the symptoms of depression, such as loss of interest in activities, feelings of guilt or worthlessness, and lack of concentration.

Before taking your prescribed medication read all the instructions provided by your pharmacist. Take your prescribed Lexapro dosage orally once a day. This medication can be administered with or without a meal. Make sure you take this medication at the same time each day to create a routine for yourself and to ensure an even spread of Escitalopram dosage in your system.

For optimal results take this medication on a regular basis. Do not change or increase your dose. You should continue taking this medication even if you feel well.

Your doctor may have you start on a lower dose and gradually increase your dose to avoid experiencing any side effects of Escitalopram.
