Description

Vetmedin is an oral medication, for dog use only, consisting of an inodilator drug called pimobendan. We carry the brand choice of this medication in 5mg!

Vetmedin is prescribed by veterinarians for the treatment of congestive heart failure caused by dilated cardiomyopathy or valvular insufficiency. Additionally, it may be used to delay the time of onset of congestive heart failure or sudden death in Doberman Pinscher dogs with clinically asymptomatic dilated cardiomyopathy.

Vetmedin (pimobendan) is effective at treating congestive heart failure in dogs because it is a positive inotrope which means it is capable of increases myocardial contractility. It also works by inhibiting the function of certain substances in the dogs body which allow a decreased resistance to blood flow through systemic arterioles, which helps reduce the workload of the failing heart.
